Mount Maunganui
On Monday 14th April Room 7 went to Mount Maunganui.  The weather was all against us, but we decided now or never.  We set of in 4 cars.  Mr Rall went in his car with 4 boys. Toni went in her van with 4 kids. Whaea Linda took the school van and had some girls with her. I took my car and had 4 boys with me. It was such fun driving in our cars with the kids.  They were very excited and couldn't wait to venture up the mount.  Sadly we did not go up the mount but decided to go around the mount.
Windy, cold but cosy, we all walked... finding treasures and climbing hills.  Their energy levels never wavered.

I am so proud of Room 7.  They never once complained about getting tired.

Here are some boys after eating an orange for energy before we venture around.

Huddling together for a bit of warmth!!!

We were all looking for one special shell to take with us to remember our walk.

Look what we have found!!!

Volcano..........Eruption.......

For a few weeks now we have been learning about  volcanoes.
  • Volcanoes are openings in Earth's surface
  • When they are active they can let ash, gas and hot magna escape.
  • Hot liquid rock under the earth's surface is known as Magna it is called lava after it has come out of the volcano.
  • Volcanoes can be ACTIVE....DORMANT.....or EXTINCT.
We built our own volcano and on Friday this week we made it erupt.   WHAT A SIGHT!!!!

Some children had the opportunity to draw and cut out some trees and figures.
We even had some animals.

With the right concoction .....it ERUPTED!!!!

KEEP LOOKING...Interview with the onlookers next.

Lava....Love!!!

The red stuff?????= Lava (after it erupted)

Stuff we put into the volcano= Baking soda, dishwashing liquid and vinegar.

Shared Reading with Whaea Steph

On Monday our student teacher Whaea Steph read Mrs O' Malley in Alligator Alley.  We were allowed to use our  Alligator masks that we made on Friday and read with her.  It was fun.
Thank You Whaea Steph for letting us have fun and read with you.
